In the general election this November, Delaware County voters will have the unprecedented opportunity to protect our water, natural areas and wildlife.
When passed, the DELAWARE COUNTY WATER QUALITY, NATURAL AREAS, AND WILDLIFE HABITAT PROTECTION initiative will authorize Delaware County to borrow up to $120 million.
What's more, the ballot measure will provide funding for the Green Ways Grant Program, which has awarded grants to municipalities and nonprofits in every part of Delaware County.

Nothing is more important than having an adequate supply of clean water to drink. By voting yes, we can protect our drinking water quality by preventing runoff and toxic chemicals from flowing into Delaware County’s water supply.

Huge warehouses and data centers are taking over one community after another. By voting yes, we would protect critical parts of our county from being overtaken by warehouses and data centers, keeping them from polluting our water and destroying our natural areas.

Delaware County Council Members have guaranteed through the ballot language that all project spending will be transparent.
• This includes annual independent audits of all project spending.
• Funds can only be used for the purposes stated in the proposal and cannot be used for other purposes.
• Funds raised locally could be matched by funds from the state and federal governments and private sources.

With land prices rising dramatically and the amount of natural lands rapidly dwindling, we must act now to protect Delaware County’s last remaining natural areas and wildlife habitat before they are lost forever to development.

Protecting our water quality, natural lands, and wildlife habitat will preserve Delaware County’s natural beauty and quality of life for future generations so our children and grandchildren can enjoy them the same way we do.
Health
We all want clean air and water. Voting yes protects forests that improve air quality and reduce stormwater pollution in our rivers and streams. It also expands access to nature and outdoor activity, improving health and lowering the risk of many diseases for county residents.
Flooding
The changing climate is leading to stronger storms and more frequent flooding that affect our everyday lives. A yes vote will conserve our woodlands and wetlands that naturally absorb floodwaters and reduce the risk of flooding to homeowners and local businesses.
